Last week, I went to a “Colour with Confidence” talk by Farrow and Ball, hosted at Deans Court, a beautiful country house in Wimborne, Dorset. Lunch and a tour of the house was included. Deans Court is being renovated by its current owners, using mainly Farrow and Ball products so its like a showcase for the brand!
The talk itself, by Joa Studholme, F&Bs international colour consultant, was very informative, especially for people new to the brand. Farrow and Ball are famous for their varied neutrals so she covered the five different types, (red, yellow, blue, green and grey based) and which accent colours go best with each type. She also introduced their new range of colours (although out of the nine new colours, five are neutrals.) And she gave us decorating tips-her approach is to start with the hallway when selecting colours in order to create a flow throughout the space.
How to create an Illusion of Space
How to make rooms feel lighter
How to elongate a room.
Add interest by using wallpaper or accent colours inside alcoves, bookcases and cupboards
Make the most of small dark rooms by resisting the urge to paint them white!
