My clients originally wanted advice on choosing paint colours, wallpaper and curtains for their new home in Meads. They were retiring and downsizing from a large period property so already had most of their furniture in place, but wanted a cohesive look throughout. They were particularly keen on using wallpaper, but wanted to keep the wall colours neutral, to really show off their beautiful artwork. They wanted to create a luxurious en-suite bathroom, were converting one of the bedrooms into another large guest bathroom and wanted wallpaper ideas for both. They also wanted my help with adding finishing touches to the interior design and advice on hanging their art.
Curtain treatment was kept simple, with a pinch pleat heading to give a formal look and just a track around the curved bay window and patio doors, to make the most of the view of the lovely garden. Fabric needed to blend with the existing upholstery material. A dramatic touch was added with ornate curtain ties.
The concept for the en-suite bathroom was grand country house hotel, so I chose this bold wallpaper with a pattern of exotic birds and flowers from Little Greene, to complement the marble tiles and retro bathroom fittings.
Gill loved the pattern so much that we chose the same design in a blue and green colourway for the guest bathroom below.
