I’ve just finished decorating the tree and that always puts me in a Christmassy mood. Our tree never has a theme -it is just hung with all the decorations we have collected over the years, including some my daughter Chloe made when she was at junior school so it is really a mix of colours and styles. (It has a bit of a Victorian vibe to go with the house). We usually buy a few new baubles each year to add to the collection. Our Christmas always follows the same formula , which is quite comforting I think, right down to the maple syrup turkey which Chloe insists on having. Every year when I briefly consider doing a “tasteful” tree, I am over-ruled by the rest of the family, but I think Christmas is one time of the year when you can get away with being a bit tasteless- the important thing is that is should be meaningful for you and your family.
However, for those of you who would prefer a tasteful Christmas, and who haven’t decorated yet, here are a few ideas to inspire.
Matching the decorations to the style of the house is a good place to start.
So what do you do?-do you go to town with the decorations or opt for a more tasteful, minimalist look?
